Lyrics

No Place to Go

We rented a house in December, And Moved in Before the Snow

Here I am 6 months later, I got no place to go

The landlord said take it easy.  The pain is bad I know

I Packed up my belongings, and turned away real slow

There’s a picture frame turned face down, and feelings you’ll never know

But no matter where I lay my head, I got no place to go

Tonight is like the others, I spend a lot of time alone

A half empty glass on the table, I got no place to go

I walk thru the heat of the summer, the night winds come so slow

The sun just burns my shoulders, but my chest feels so cold.

There’s a picture frame turned face down, and a note written long ago

But no matter where I lay my head, I got no place to go

In the early morning sun, and I felt the sweep of your hair

The little things I remember, the things that aren’t there

I’ve played that song for hours, and the night’s still young, I know

As each day grows shorter, I’ve got no place to go

So, the moral of this story Is man you never know

Longing for a memory that just won’t let me go

There’s a picture frame turned face down

And feelings you don’t want to know

But no matter where I lay my head, I got no place to go

I got no place, I got no place, I got no place to go.

Story

No Place to Go is the first single off our album Book of Life. The song was originally written by Robert Karp and Mike Mannino for their band Redemption in the 1990s. After Rob shared a group of songs that they wrote during that era with the Bystanders, Bystander electric guitarist Steve Semeraro added additional musical parts and re-wrote and added some lyrics. The result is a jangly roots rocker.
