Lyrics
Gotta Get Outta Here
The wind was blowing as the leaves blow through the air I watch them flow from here to there My love is sinkin’ and my mind is so unclear I think I really gotta get out of here I took your hand and walked down roads of ever after I would have carried you down there Now every road I travel, I’m not sure where to steer But I know I’ve gotta get out of here I’ve gotta get out of here I wish that God would show me mercy My eyes are so unclear that I don’t know where to go My heart is wrapped in golden ribbon And my soul has been stripped bare I will not wait to see redemption And I’ve gotta get out of here I waited by the cross roads, for your love to ease my fears But the wind just blew in circles, and my eyes just bathed in tears So I looked both ways and started to move as if I didn’t have a care Stared into my rear view, and said I’ve gotta get out here
Emerald Eyes
Thought I knew what they meant when they talked about love
Coasting through and so easy to keep my chin up
Now I know that all before you was untrue
Didn’t know I was searching until I found you
When I look into your emerald eyes I know that my search should be over
Won’t you tell me please emerald eyes The answer to just one question
Won’t you tell me please emerald eyes the answer to just one
Tell me how can I live without you now that I know what I’m missing
I found bliss in your arms and heaven in your hugs and your kissing
She’s rollin’ it’s Wednesday I don’t know how late
She’s drinkin’ a healing tonic and Bombay
Pig’s Feet Diner provides the backdrop all right
Foreign travel the topic of preference that night
When I look into your emerald eyes I know that my search should be over
Won’t you tell me please emerald eyes The answer to just one question
Won’t you tell me please emerald eyes the answer to just one
Tell me how can I live without you now that I know what I’m missing
I found bliss in your arms and heaven in your hugs and your kissing
Ski weekend up at Tamarapone Lake
In a small town nude skiing simply won’t take
Our own redux apocalypse now Martin Sheen
The boat’s in flames but the lake remains pristine
When I look into your emerald eyes I know that my search should be over
Won’t you tell me please emerald eyes The answer to just one question
Won’t you tell me please emerald eyes the answer to just one
Tell me how can I live without you now that I know what I’m missing
I found bliss in your arms and heaven in your hugs and your kissing
Highways
Take me home to the mountains And the desert that I know
If I fled there, would you follow? If I beckoned, would you go?
The open air is my companion The running water is my guide
If I whisper, would you hear me? If I shout, would you reply?
As I sail along these highways I see the water turn to stone
And the desert is my shelter And the mountains are my home
And the mountains are my home
Are you dancing in the shadows? Or are you hiding in the sun?
If you told me that you need me, Would I be the only one?
As I sail along these highways Memories are fading fast
And the desert is my future And the mountains are my past
And the mountains are my past For the desert has no secrets
And the mountains tell no lies
Do you dare to touch the sunset Sell your soul for one desire?
Would you want to walk on water? Do you dare to play with fire?
As I sail along these highways My horizon never ends
And the desert is my family And the mountains are my friends
And the mountains are my friends
Workingman's Daughter
Moonlight on the river. Let’s take a walk down to the water I just want a chance with a working man’s daughter Take me by the hand, lead me to the new land I know that’s where you’re going, I want to go with you For so long now, I been stuck here inside I want to teach my eyes to see, beyond these blinds So, touch my cheek and open my eyes Give me the strength to love and the strength to cry Things ain’t like they used to be, they ain’t what they seem Without you, life’s so lonely, but with you it’s a dream Sometimes somethings, they won’t turn us loose If we leave this illusion behind us, we can find the truth We gotta be together. We just gotta be. To find ourselves a way back home, a way to be free Oh, but I love you, now more than ever I can’t say that I’ll answer your prayers, but I’ll always be there, when you need me, when you need me. Moonlight on the river. Let’s take a walk down to the water I just want a chance with a working man’s daughter.
Story
Attractive Nuisance is a reverse concept EP built from songs that band members had stashed in the attic for decades. Gotta Get Outta Here is a break up song. The singer can’t wait for redemption because he must break free. Highways explores the whether our relationships can ever be as true as the natural world. Emerald Eyes arises from the uncertainty of a budding relationship. Finally, Workingman’s Daughter is a fantasy song written by a 19 year-old who now knows that the kind of expressed in the song doesn’t exist.
